GE Coupling, GE14-GE90 Elastomeric Jaw Coupling
A GE coupling is an elastomeric jaw coupling: two cast-iron hubs with curved jaws, connected by a moulded rubber spider between them. The spider takes the torque in compression, damps torsional vibration, and absorbs small angular, radial, and axial misalignment without lubrication. It is not a gear coupling; the flexible element is the rubber spider, not gear teeth, which keeps the GE series maintenance-free and quiet on pumps, gearboxes, compressors, mixers, and conveyor drives.
The GE14-GE90 range covers 11 stock sizes with spiders in three hardness grades: 92 ShA for general duty, 98 ShA for higher torque, and 64 ShD for high temperature or heavy shock.

GE Coupling Technical Data
Pick the row whose rated torque is above your design torque multiplied by the service factor, then check that the maximum bore covers your shaft, then confirm the outside diameter and overall length fit the space between the two shaft ends. Torque values are for the spider grade shown in the column header, so a 64 ShD spider in the same size carries a different figure from a 92 ShA one.

FAQs
What does “GE” stand for in a GE coupling?
It is the series designation for the elastomeric jaw coupling range, in the same family as the Rotex GS and Stromag GE types. The number after GE is the size code, not the bore or the torque.
Which spider hardness should I choose?
92 ShA is the general-purpose grade and the one to start with. Move to 98 ShA when the torque is high and the load is smooth; use 64 ShD where ambient temperature is high or the drive reverses frequently, and accept the reduced misalignment capacity that comes with the harder grade.
Can I replace a Rotex or Stromag coupling with this one?
In most cases yes, provided the size, bore and overall length match. Send us the original part number and the shaft diameters at both ends, and we will confirm the equivalent GE size and spider grade before quoting.
