Some applications may require a stronger version of 81X series chains. Below is the strength compared to the various options for a stronger 81X chain. 

The first thing to do is check if there's a part number stamped on the side of the chain. This will instantly tell you what type of chain it is. If there’s no part number, follow these steps to identify it:

Measure the distance from the center of one pin to the center of the next pin. This is called the pitch (P in the diagram above).

Measure the pin diameter (d2).

Measure the roller diameter (d1).

Measure the roller width (b1).

Measure the plate thickness (T).

Measure the plate height (h2).

Once you have these key measurements, compare them with the chart below to find the correct chain size. If your chain has any special features, like attachments, or pins, or is made of stainless steel, be sure to include that information when asking for a replacement.
